Trip Munroe is the grandson of vaudeville stage magician “Sweet Tooth” Munroe. He makes his living (if you want to call it that) as a bad stand-up comic. Unbeknownst to him, he’s also Earth’s appointed guardian against an alien menace from another dimension.

Sent by the warlord Felon Bane, the Corpii Warriors have come to Earth to slay Trip. However, a powerful (but still fallible) godling has given Trip a portion of his power to use in Earth’s defense. When the Corpii attack Trip in his apartment, he suddenly finds himself able to make his grandfather’s magic tricks work in unexpected ways, including turning a rubber chicken into a carnivorous monster.

Clive Barker’s Hokum & Hex follows Trip as he tries to master his new powers and save the universe. Famous as a horror novelist, Barker proves he can get laughs as well.
