Planet (P.S.G.)
(P.S.G., 1967-1968)
©1968 P.S.G. Publishing House, Inc.
For many years, the Philippines produced some of the world’s most finely-crafted comics, and in the early 1970s, many of the top Filipino artists such as Alex Niño, Tony DeZuniga, Nestor Redondo, and Alfredo Alascia made an enormous impact when they began working for American comics. Planet, a black-and-white science-fiction title from 1968, shows that not all of the finest Filipino talent made it to the United States. The stories show an incredible attention to detail and the fully-assimilated influence of EC comics masters like Wally Wood, Harvey Kurtzman, and Al Williamson. Even though the dialogue is in Tagalog, the storytelling in these tales is clear and powerful.
