Fantasy baseball? It’s right here… and heavy on the fantasy. This black and white title tells the stories of baseball players from all over the world including far-off places such as Thailand, the Yukon, Australia, and Africa. For example, mega-hitter Ken Kanomwan of the Bangkok Black Widows gets an origin story that involves his mother sending him down a river as an infant in a basket, à la Moses, to the safety of an ancient monastery. There he is raised in an atmosphere of peace and harmony. One day he finds a book in the monastery’s library—The History of Baseball—and his life is changed forever. But what happens to the order of monks who raised him? Why is this superstar player so troubled? The answers lie in Kanomwan’s complicated past, which is related in a story with fairly stilted dialogue and awkward artwork.
