Sad Sack Navy, Gobs ’n’ Gals

George Baker’s military comic strip hero Sad Sack—military lingo for pathetic screw-up—was created in 1942 and eventually found a full-time comic book home with Harvey Comics in the 1950s, where he headlined several titles through the 1970s. One of those titles was Sad Sack Navy Gobs ‘n’ Gals, which took the ham-fisted private, his hapless sergeant, and their cohort out to sea for what can only be called more of the same—which is good, funny stuff.
