Darkminds: Macropolis

A follow-up to the original Darkminds mini-series, this series stars Agent Nagawa of the Special Investigations Unit of the Macropolis police and his partner, the female cyborg, Agent Nakiko. Again, the two find themselves on the trail of a serial killer, as they were in the original series. This time, however, the killer is leading Nagawa along, while at the same time leaving a string of beheaded women in his wake. The art is reminiscent of the Americanized anime style used by Darkminds creator Pat Lee and evokes thoughts of the classic Japanese manga Akira. A cross between the films “Seven” and Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner,” Darkminds: Macropolis is a fast-paced thrill ride through the future, where technology and man have become nearly indistinguishable from each other.
