Millennium Edition: World’s Finest

    (DC, 2000)
™ and ©2000 DC Comics

DC’s two marquee superstars Superman and Batman had been sharing the pages of World’s Finest Comics since the early 1940s, but it was not until World’s Finest #71 in 1954 that anyone thought of teaming them up in the same story. The lead story features the two heroes exchanging secret identities to fool criminals—a plot device typical of mid-50s DC comics. Superman artist Curt Swan handles the art to good effect, with capable inks by Stan Kaye. The World’s Finest Millennium Edition reprints the entire issue, including the backup stories, so readers familiar with the oft-reprinted Superman-Batman feature can also enjoy a Green Arrow adventure, a tale of frontier pioneer Tomahawk, and a few vintage text and humor pages.
