Jedi Knights Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have been assigned to protect Baroness Omnino of the Vena System. Unfortunately, the Baroness still blames Qui-Gon for the death of her husband, who died of a heart attack while under the Jedi’s protection.

However, when the Baroness’s son disappears, she turns to Qui-Gon for help in rescuing him. The quest for her son will lead Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to the planet Ord Mantell. What dangers await the Jedi Knights there? And will Qui-Gon fail the Baroness again?

The events in this story take place five years prior to Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (Episode I).
