Picture Stories from Science is an earnest attempt to use the medium of comics for education in basic skills. The book uses illustration and simple text to explain the physics and chemistry behind air, water, pyrotechnics, and other physical phenomena.

Picture Stories from Science was part of the Picture Stories series from EC (which at that time stood for Educational Comics, rather than Entertaining Comics) in the late 1940s. Comics publishing pioneer, M.C. Gaines, created Picture Stories from Science along with Picture Stories from the Bible, Picture Stories from American History, and others to try to get kids interested in learning. It folded after two issues.
