Frank Miller drops the stark black-and-white style he used to such good effect in Sin City, adding the colors of Lynn Varley to his palette for this five-issue series. 300 is the story of King Leonides of Sparta and his three hundred bodyguards. These men dared to stop the invading Xerxes of Persia, who had massed the largest army in history to invade Greece. The three hundred (later joined by thousands from across Greece) knew they were marching to certain doom, but their valor—and cunning—were destined to go down in history.
A triumph of storytelling and art, 300 is a great example of a comics legend at the peak of his form.
