More Tales From Gimbley

    (Harrier, 1988)
™ and ©1988 Harrier

Gimbley is Phil Elliott’s spinner of way-out yarns, his balding present incarnation as the pub raconteur narrates stories about the magnificently hairstyled, youthful Gimbley, collected from various early 1980s small press comics. These are odd stories, occasionally seeming to be without purpose, but also quite capable of reaching down into you to tweak a long-hidden emotion. Phil Elliott’s art improved from story to story here (sadly, they’re not collected chronologically) and would improve still further, but the basics of his European clair ligne style are present and correct. Those not expecting slam-bang action and a payoff on every page could do worse than seek this out.
