Toyo Harada is the powerful head of the Harbinger Foundation. He named the foundation as such because Harada, a mutant himself, believes other mutants to be the harbingers of a new era for humanity. He formed the Harbinger Foundation to gather such mutants to him and to train them as he sees fit.

Many Harbingers have grown to use their powers in Harada’s personal service, becoming his “Eggbreakers.” Others, fortunately, have rebelled—leaving the foundation in order to lead lives of their own. This series centers around these youths as they struggle to make it on their own and to use their powers for good.

Formerly a publisher of game-inspired comics, Harbinger introduced readers to the new Valiant universe. It was soon joined by others, including Magnus Robot Fighter, X-O Manowar, and Solar, Man of the Atom.
