(From the Slings & Arrows Comic Guide)

This was one of several underground comics conceived very much in the tradition of EC’s horror line, and after a slightly slippery start it grew into one of the best. Jack Jaxon, Dave Sheridan and Spain all contributed good material, but it was Richard Corben (#2, 3, 5, 6) and Greg Irons (#1–3, 6) who best captured the EC spirit in a series of astonishingly shocking strips. Irons’ frequent collaborator Tom Veitch was responsible, with Irons and Corben, for the run’s best (and most stomach-churning) tale, the full length A Gothic Tale in #6. The Veitch/Irons gore-a-thon The Clean-Up Crew from #3 was later turned into a notorious German underground film, albeit without their permission. ~DAR
