You shouldn’t have to listen hard to hear the buzz–phrase “Studio Ice” in comic book circles before too long. That’s the group producing this title (and MegaCity909) for Devil’s Due—and the art will seize readers’ attention. The art is stunning and beautiful, both interior and cover. The art alone is worth the $2.95 price. Mark Lee’s art complemented by Zack Suh’s backgrounds… Did I mention the art?

Mu is the name of the realm where this sword-and-sorcery story takes place; it has no apparent connection to the Atlantis–connected fantasyland “Mu” (created by Col. James Churchward in 1926). Involved are roughly 10 characters on multiple paths. The story observes each of them with balance, though the primaries are a pair of wizards, Icarus Estro and Kundun Mephis, plus grown orphan Zak and an ambitious emperor named Antonias Kalain. Coming to Mu (and so to our heroes) is a stirring evil in the form of the Shadow Lord, Secneum. (yes, he sounds like a nasal disorder—but he’s really, truly this evil being not to be trifled with.) Mu is a great fantasy comic book, especially for fans who appreciate superb art.
