The beginning of the twenty–first century may be best remembered in the comic book industry as the Marvel Movie years. In 2004, Marvel Comics’s Punisher, best remembered for his Amazing Spider-Man #129 beginnings, was given another chance at the silver screen with the spring release of the Lions Gate Films production of “The Punisher”. In this mini–series, Peter Milligan took the screenplay written by Jonathan Hensteingh, Michael Tolkin, and Michael France and put it into a multiple issue adaptation rather than trying to cram everything into a one-issue shoot-fest. With the help of Pat Olliffe and Scott Koblish, they managed to bring a new look at a Marvel favorite.

Gulf War veteran/FBI undercover agent Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) is linked to the death of a mobster’s son (John Travolta). For that, his entire family is gunned down. The grief–driven Frank vows revenge, and embarks on a bloody agenda to punish those responsible.
