Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch
(Charlton, 1975-1976)
™ and ©1976 Hanna-Barbera Productions, Inc.
Hanna-Barbera borrowed a page from Herbie the Love Bug to create the popular cartoon series on which this comic was based. The star is a friendly car named Wheelie, whose friends are an assortment of other cars, buses, and motorcycles. Rota, his girlfriend, is a swank convertible. Scrambles, a baseball cap-wearing scooter is the “kid” of the series, putting Wheelie and Rota in the “mom and dad” roles. The chief villains of the series are Chopper, Mopper, and Hi Riser, a trio of no-good motorcycles out to vex Wheelie. Of course, the good-natured Wheelie and his friends always win in the end, driving off into the sunset together at the end of the day.
