For years, Archie Andrews has had trouble choosing between a beautiful blonde, Betty Cooper, and a stunning brunette, Veronica Lodge. In 1995, his publisher added to his problems by introducing a gorgeous redhead named Cheryl Blossom, who starred in two limited series and four specials and earned this ongoing series in 1996. While she’s certainly lovely, Cheryl is petulant and demanding of attention; many of her adventures with Archie and the gang focus on her need to be the main attraction at every event and often end very differently from what she had hoped. A fun book, to be sure. Amazingly enough, the Archie creators have come up with a character who makes Veronica, one of comics’ original “spoiled little rich girls,” seem deep!
