I Am Legion

    (Humanoids, 2004)

Many horror comics seem to delight in showering the reader with blood and body parts; there is plenty of that available in this import, but the most terrifying scenes are ones with seemingly ordinary people. Fabien Nury’s script follows three subplots through the dark winter of 1942. In England, a former MI6 agent is recalled to investigate the mysterious death of a powerful businessman. In Bucharest, the last survivor of a resistance cell must pull himself together to aid a British commando sqaud. And in the mountains of Transylvania, the target of that group, an SS general, feverishly works on the weapon that will give the Nazis ultimate victory a tenyear old Romanian girl. All three stories are linked by the appearance of a strange red tattoo and the suspicion that va. The script includes many subtle details that might get by an inattentive reader, and the art by American John Cassady (Planetary, Captain America) is top–notch as well.
