On the brink of a new century, Marvel Comics paid homage to its golden age legacy with the release of several prestige-format reprint editions including Marvel Mystery Comics #1. Marvel Mystery reprints adventures of the publisher’s A-list super-heroes, including the original (android) Human Torch and Toro, Captain America and Bucky, and the Sub-Mariner. A few lesser-lights also get some rare modern-day exposure, including the mysterious extra-dimensional Vision, fighting femme Silver Scorpion, costumed adventurer the Angel, and fleet-footed Hurricane. All are featured in typically fast-moving and action-packed stories from the early 1940s. The handsome square-bound reprint offers 100 pages of beautifully-restored artwork from top golden age talent like Bill Everett (Sub-Mariner), Carl Burgos (Human Torch) and the team of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby (Captain America, the Vision, Hurricane).
