Everwinds

    (Amaze Ink, 1997-1998)
™ and ©1997 Seve Peters

The hero is a dead fox whose carcass has been inhabited by a wayward spirit with no memory of his previous existence, and his costars are a mysterious helmeted Shaman known as Fur Face and his gruff familiar, the elk Wapiti. Together they travel Everwinds, a strange land of mystics, monks, and of course, talking animals. The fox pursues answers to his hidden past across multiple planes of existence, but sometimes finds knowledge more troubling than mystery. His journey of self-discovery is further sidetracked by such adventures as a trip to the Underworld, where he meets a terrifying incarnation of fear itself—and an evil being intent on ruling the Everwinds.

Created, written, and drawn by Steve Peters, this black-and-white series fills every page with plenty of story and thoughtful character interaction. There are as many mental challenges facing the heroes as physical ones, making for a comic that’s compelling on several levels. Published by the Amaze Ink imprint of Slave Labor Graphics.
