Scorpio Rose
(Eclipse, 1983)
Scorpio Rose™ and ©1982 Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers. Doctor Orient™ and ©1982 Frank Lauria
Her story began three hundred years ago. In those days, she was simply Rosa, a beautiful gypsy girl. One day, a stranger came to her people’s encampment and Rosa danced for him. Afterward, they stole away to a secluded cliff. It was there that Rosa found out the stranger was no human, but harbored a demon from the pit. He took Rosa, harshly, violating her body and her soul. He also blessed—or cursed—her with eternal life.
Now Rosa lives in Paris where she makes her living as a seer. She has learned the ways of magic, but little did she suspect that she would be using them to save her life from the same demon that changed her so many years ago.
Scorpio Rose made her debut in this two-issue mini-series, originally meant as a story for DC’s Madame Xanadu. When DC and creator Steve Englehart squabbled over the script, Englehart turned it into Scorpio Rose’s first story.
