Michael Crichton’s original novel was adapted into the blockbuster movie of 1993. Topps then adapted the movie to produce this four-issue mini-series, and the start of a line of related comics.

Scientists have perfected a process for cloning the DNA from species long dead into full-fledged, living animals. But the animals they are most interested in recreating are not the dodo bird or some other recently extinct species. From blood taken by a primordial mosquito, who was subsequently trapped in amber, it became possible to recreate the DNA of dinosaurs. Thanks to the funding of an eccentric billionaire, an entire island was populated with creatures who existed before the dawn of mankind. The billionaire pictured this as the ultimate, wild animal amusement park—“Jurassic Park”—where humans could safely view the well-contained dinosaurs. But nature—and the dinosaurs—had other plans!
