Catwoman: The Movie

    (DC, 2004)
™ and © 2004 DC Comics, Inc.

This adaptation of the film of the same name is about as straight forward as an adaptation can be. Sparsely written and with pencils to match, the book re-envisions the classic Batman character for the modern age. Patience Price is a bookish, meek, wall flower. That is, until she is killed for seeing something she shouldn’t have. Then, with the help of the Egyptian cat-god Bast, Patience is reborn as the latest incarnation of Catwoman. Readers interested in the character should skip this and head straight for Ed Brubaker’s critically acclaimed series Catwoman (2nd Series). Only plus to this adaptation? The 6 or 7 page sketchbook by superstar Jim Lee (Batman, WildC.A.T.s, Superman)
