After the successful debut of 3-D films in the 50s, it was inevitable that comic books would have their own version, complete with special glasses that create the illusion of objects jumping out of the page. Pioneered by artists Joe Kubert and Norman Maurer, Third Dimension Comics was the first 3-D comic book, featuring pages that, without the 3-D glasses included, are a collection of blurry images. To make the project even more commercial, it starred Mighty Mouse, essentially an anthropomorphic take on Superman.
