Coven 13

A recently abandoned abattoir used by an occult group for animal sacrifices in cult rituals has attracted the attention of three voluptuous witches on motorcycles. Angel, Penny and Lizzie are long on attitude backed up by supernatural abilities and, by their own admission, “Out to save the world.”

Written by Rikki Rocket, the drummer for the rock group, Poison, this title includes many elements of Rocket’s interest: beautiful women, motorcycles, witchcraft and animal protection. Although it is the impetus for the story, the animal protection aspect seems to be an anomalous presence in an otherwise standard “bad girl” title. But Rocket’s membership in the group “Last Chance of Animals” explains its incorporation.

The artwork by Matt Busch evokes the look of a fumetti book. Real life models were used as photo references then scanned into a computer and enhanced with special effects to render a finished page that is strikingly realistic. Although this artwork is memorable, the photo-realism tends to limit the characters to a set of stock expressions.
