Joe Yank

One of the latter day Korean War comics, Joe Yank traded laughs for the battlefield action of its contemporaries. The title character was a G.I. stationed at Camp Killjoy in the U.S. Although he had seen action in Korea, lately he battles not the Red Chinese but the eternal struggle to win the ladies’ affections. Just when he has worked his way up to a good round of wooing, his gruff sergeant, Mike McGurk, would inevitably show up to ruin it.

In addition to the lighthearted adventures of Joe Yank, this series also featured a number of army gag strips. These included The Yardbirds, Ryze and Shyne, and the goofy Pvt. Parks.
