Superman: Emperor Joker

™ and ©2000 DC Comics

Superman is a black-and-silver-garbed outlaw who nightly escapes from Arkham Asylum, only to be returned to his cell by…Bizarro!?! On top of that, Supergirl is a cloistered nun; Superboy is hawking burgers; the Justice League of America is pretty much a do-nothing organization of failures, fools, and freaks; and Lois Lane is a bald (!) corporate shark who owns most—if not all—of Metropolis. Sound crazy? It should! You see, the Joker has been endowed with Mr. Mxyzptlk’s fifth-dimensional, reality-altering powers, and he’s reshaped the world in his wacky (read: totally insane) image. How can the Man of Steel hope to defeat a madman with the powers of a god?

It’s gonna be tough. And, hey, where’s Batman while all of these shenanigans are going down?!?

This one-shot wraps up the “Superman: Arkham” storyline that ran through the four regular Superman titles and launches the five-part follow-up—“The Reign of Emperor Joker.”
