Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher
(Monkeysuit, 2004)
™ and © 1999-2001, 2004 Bill Presing, Matt Peters, and respective artists
What’s not to love about Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher? You’ve got your archetypal lantern–jawed hero, who dives into Nazi–infested hives of villainy with wanton abandon, as well as Penny, his cute–as–a–button gal–Friday who’s pretty handy with a wrench. Reminiscent of those pulpy Saturday afternoon serials of the 1930s and 1940s, Steele’s adventures were originally published in the Monkey Suit Press anthologies, which saw him regularly thwarting the plans of the menacingly sexy Greta Schultz, Girl Nazi, and taking on an entire band of Amazon warriors. Rex Steele’s adventures have been adapted to film in the form of an animated student movie that is available on DVD and has garnered overwhelmingly positive buzz.
