Series continues in Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #16 and returns with issue #38.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve not read about The Legion of Super-Heroes for a long time—or at all—because this latest volume is a fresh start that redefines each and every Legionnaire.

The galactic war that’s been repeatedly hinted at finally starts as a planet is invaded by an advance group from a secret organization bent on galactic conquest. Brin Londo joins Lightning Lad and a handful of other Legionnaires trying to rescue a group of survivors from the villain Elysion and his group, the Terror Firma. The invaders’ goal? “We planted a flag here, just to show we could!”

As always, Barry Kitson’s art is a pleasure. And Mark Waid delivers another multilayered chapter in what’s shaping up to be a complex story about an approaching apocalyptic war. But the wide-ranging story and the necessity of reintroducing an even wider cast of main characters, plus the arrival of a new super-powered group of villains, can still make Legion a little unwieldy to read. Good thing that this time they’ve added a scorecard!
