Zero Street
(Amaze Ink, 2000)
™ and ©1998 Thomas Hong
Just after Erica agreed to meet a blind date for coffee on Zero Street—her first date in months—Iris called with a job. Erica’s protestations and alternate suggestions are ignored. This is an important assignment and Erica was specifically requested. This air of normalcy quickly fades when it is revealed that Erica is a high-tech hired assassin. The routine aspect of her job is indicated by Erica’s hope that she can kill someone and still make her date. Luckily, Erica’s target, Kietal Smith, is in a building on Zero Street. So Erica plans to simply set up across the street, pull the trigger, and meet Jimmy for coffee.
Complications arise when Smith apparently survives the explosion, necessitating Erica’s first-hand involvement. When Erica jumps several stories to the street with no harm, it becomes obvious that there is nothing about Erica that is normal.
