Spider-Boy
(Amalgam, 1996)
™ and ©1996 Marvel Characters, Inc. and DC Comics, Inc.
Perhaps the most successful blending of elements for the Amalgam line, Spider-Boy, revealed the similarities between the wisecracking Spider-Man and the recent incarnation of Superboy. Spider-Boy, secretly Pete Ross, is a clone from the Cadmus Project. He consistently saves New York from routine destruction with the aid of his friend and mentor Doc Octopus, and has a rollicking time doing it.
More fun is contained on the letters page in the form of a letter from Antonio Stradivarius, who instead of writing about violins, bemoans the ever-growing line of Spider-Boy titles. The editor agrees and informs him that the other titles are suspended so that they don’t “spread ourselves thin.”
