Aetos the Eagle (Vol. 2)
(Ground Zero, 1997)
™ and ©1997 Dan Parsons
In the 1960s and ’70s, a flourishing fan press allowed semiprofessional artists and comic book wannabes to sharpen their skills and spin their not-quite-ready-for-prime-time tales among a forgiving audience. Today, that role is filled by the small indie presses like Ground Zero Comics, and titles like Aetos the Eagle have to fight for shelf space (and dollars) with much more polished and professional work.
Aetos the Eagle is a standard super-hero action title about a flying hero who takes on demented scientists, zombies, and other denizens of his dimly lit metropolis. Creator Dan Parsons blasts out the story with enthusiasm in jagged black-and-white (with a heavy hand on the zipatone) that would have looked right at home in the back pages of Alter Ego c. 1970.
