A Date with Judy

    (DC, 1947-1960)
™ and ©1954 National Comics Publications, Inc.

Based on a popular early TV and radio comedy (later made into a movie), A Date with Judy proved an enduring teen humor title for DC during the dark days of the late 1940s and 1950s, when the publisher’s best-selling super-hero comics had fallen out of favor with readers. Judy is a headstrong teenage girl with typical 1950s teenage girl obsessions—boys, fashion, her rivals, and problems with her parents. Issues featured a variety of goofy adventures of Judy and her pals in teen sitcom situations. The title died a quiet death in 1960 when DC cut back many of its older comics to make way for the super-heroes of the Silver Age.
