Freaks’ Amour
(Dark Horse, 1992)
™ and ©1992 Tom DeHaven
Freaks Amour is a chilling look at a world where a percentage of the population was mutated because of an accident. In particular, the story focuses in on two “freaks” that were mutated at birth after a huge explosion scattered dangerous chemicals into the air. Some mutated humans went crazy, but all were shunned by what the mutants describe as the Normals. As a result, many of the mutants must resort to crime to survive, while others become involved in the sex industry. The Normals pay big bucks to watch mutants have sex, so it can be a great source of income for those who can do it.
Dark Horse comic introduced the black-and-white Freaks Amour in 1992. The series was actually an adaptation of a novel of the same name written by Tom DeHaven. Mark Burbey worked the adaptation into a script and Phil Hester penciled.
