This series marks the third time that the famous masked rider was featured in his own comic book series.

The series retold the now universally known origin of the title character. But for those who may not know, the Lone Ranger became the famous vigilante when his fellow Texas Rangers were ambushed, The Lone Ranger was the sole survivor. The series went on to chronicle the adventures of the Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion, Tonto. Throughout the course of the series, the two fought villains like Sir Satan, land-hungry ranchers, bank robbers, and murderous thugs.

The series survived for twenty-eight issues over a period of eight years from 1969 to 1977. The covers for the series were painted and featured the likeness of Clayton Moore, the actor who portrayed the Lone Ranger on television and in the movies.
