Crimestoppers. Two-way wrist radios. Hard-bitten women prisoners named Sleet. Shady restaurant workers named Twist. Cops named Sam Catchem. And of course, the squarest-jawed, yellowest-trenchcoated detective in comic strip history. Sounds like a Dick Tracy series, all right, and it is. In one typical story, Sleet has broken out of jail and will do anything to stay hidden—including murder. Tracy and his associate Catchem are a little too sharp for her…right?

Chester Gould’s classic old comic strip gets collected, reprinted, and revived here, in black-and-white but filled with colorful characters and stories. Published by ACG Comics. Read enough issues in these various Dick Tracy reprint series (ACG has done several others) and you might even catch a glimpse of Tracy showing an emotion or two.
