Sin City: That Yellow Bastard
(Dark Horse, 1996-1997, 2005)
™ and ©1996 Frank Miller
This third installment of Frank Miller’s Sin City starts off with a bang. Several of them do, in fact.
It was the last day on the job for Hartigan, a sixty-year-old cop. Against the urgings of his partner, he decided to follow up a stoolie’s tip and go gunning into the midst of a child kidnapping gang. Had he waited for backup, the perpetrator, a senator’s son, might have escaped again after victimizing yet another eleven-year-old girl. Hartigan, his heart failing him, decided to go in alone. Two dead thugs and a heart attack later, he emerged, bloody and staggering. In a face-off with the senator’s son, Hartigan once again was victorious, depriving the lowlife of both the gun he was carrying and “his other weapon.” But before he could finish off the job, execution style, Hartigan was shot from behind—by his partner.
Just another day in Sin City, the town without tears…
