Shanna the She-Devil (2nd Series)

In an attempt to reinvent yet another character, Marvel has enlisted Frank Cho to do the duties. While his art is as gorgeous as anything else he’s ever done, the story is a bit lacking. Granted, this is the first issue of a seven–issue limited series and most of the story is simply set–up for what’s to come, there are a lot of unanswered questions that could (and should) have been answered right off the bat to make things a little clearer for the reader. The first is when this story takes place. The second is where.

Soldiers discover Shanna’s body in a sophisticated Nazi test facility… are these soldiers from World War II? And where is this facility? In a caption, readers learn that they “crash–landed on this Godforsaken land,” but what land are they referring to? Is it The Savage Land? If so, it would have been a good thing to mention for those who don’t remember Shanna’s earlier incarnation… [But] did I mention the art is gorgeous?
