This special is one in a series that pairs popular DC Universe heroes—Impulse, Superboy, Catwoman, and Robin—with the members of the spooky sort-of-a-super-hero-team Scare Tactics, monsters who perform as a rock band to explain their ghoulish exteriors. Here, super-speedster Bart Allen—a.k.a. Young Justice member Impulse—meets up with Gross-Out, Scare Tactics’ resident swamp-monster-type who is mistaken for a local creature of legend—the Bogman. In an effort to save Gross-Out from those who would pursue and subdue him, Bart accidentally gives his speed to the misshapen-muck-man-with-a-heart-of-gold and learns what it’s like to be…well…like everyone else. Entertaining stuff from writer Len Kaminski (Iron Man) and artist Anthony Williams (Batman: Toyman).
