Battle Classics is a reprint title revisiting the WWII adventures of Sgt. Rock. Writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert were two of DC Comics’ most prolific storytellers in the war genre; in fact, when one imagines Sgt. Rock it is usually Kubert’s grimacing, teeth-clenched visage that illustrates the image. In No. 1 Rock teams up with Lt. Johnny Cloud, a fighter pilot who receives messages from a cloud formation shaped like an Indian riding a horse, and the Haunted Tank to rescue an operative placed in an iron suit by Nazis.
