Evil Ernie vs. The Super Heroes
(Chaos, 1995, 1998)
™ and ©1995 Brian Pulido
In this telling, Ernest Fairchild was terribly abused as a child by his super-hero father. Although he was born with psychic abilities, Ernie never told anyone about them. Still, his hard-driving father had big plans for his boy, and went so far as to put him in an experimental dream probe in an effort to disclose whatever powers Ernie might have.
As it turned out, the dream probe opened a conduit to the Netherworld, ruled by Lady Death. They came to an understanding of sorts, and a week later, Ernie murdered his parents. Now completely psychotic, Ernie spent the next several years in Arcane Asylum, until the doctors (one of whom was secretly the hero Perfect Woman) tried to cure him with a new scientific probe designed to remove his desire to kill. Unknown to all, Lady Death had altered the mechanism so that it exploded, killing Ernie. He was then reanimated as the ghoulish Evil Ernie, determined to wipe out all the “heroes” who had let him down.
