Welcome Back to the House of Mystery

    (Vertigo, 1998)
™ and © DC Comics, Inc.

One of DC Comics’ longest running and most successful titles, the original House of Mystery ran from the 1950s through the early 1980s. In 1998, DC collected eight stories from the House of Mystery and two stories from the company’s other early horror publication, Plop, into this one-shot compilation. Most notable about this collection of short horror tales is the framing story written by Neil Gaiman of Sandman fame and illustrated by Sergio Aragones, known for his work on such titles as Groo. Just as in each story of the original series, the all-new framing story stars the House of Mystery caretaker, Cain, known as much for torturing his dimwitted brother Abel as for his witty introductions to each macabre tale. Featured in this particular reprint collection are the works of such celebrated comic artists as Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Berni Wrightson.
