The Wonderverse: Nexus

    (Opposite Number, 2001-2002, 2004)
™ and ©2001 Opposite Number Comics

An Englishman in 1870s Chicago charms a crowd with his “magic bullet” at a circus sideshow, while evading a bounty hunter who seeks the same prized bullet. A Scotland Yard detective tries to track down a London serial killer known as Black Jack. And a brilliant inventor is watched by eyes not from this already-strange world.

What do these people have in common? Wonderverse doesn’t tell all in its first issue, but it makes the reader want to know.

Another neat aspect is the other genres that are deftly integrated into this Victorian-era story. Elements like horror, science fiction and fantasy, and even super-heroes could have easily seemed out of place but, instead, only add to the overall appeal and desire to read more. This would likely be enjoyed by fans of Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or From Hell.
