Pride & Joy

    (Vertigo, 1997)
™ and ©1997 Garth Ennis and John Higgins

Jimmy Kavanagh has the same worries that many parents must deal with. Although his young daughter is “daddy’s little girl,” his adolescent son has become distant and moody. Still, life is a comfortable routine for this widower and single father until a phone call raises the specters of his past, and threatens his children’s future. A similar phone call so intimidated two of Kavanagh’s former associates that they broke out of prison and came to him for help.

Garth Ennis, (Preacher, Hitman), who has achieved a reputation for coarse dialogue and realistic characterization, (even in the midst of otherworldly circumstances), weaves a taut, down-to-earth tale of suspense and intrigue in this four-issue mini-series from Vertigo.
