Marvel Action Hour, Featuring Iron Man

Encouraged by the success of its X-Men Adventures animated series on Saturday morning television, Marvel decided to launch its Marvel Action Hour for 1994. This new animated series had different segments featuring the Amazing Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and Iron Man.

The Iron Man segment was actually a team-up between Tony Stark (the original Iron Man) and the new Force Works. The latter was a super-hero group comprised of War Machine (James Rhodes, Stark’s former bodyguard), the Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, U.S. Agent, a revamped Spider-Woman, and a new hero named Century. This comic adaptation of that series finds these heroes battling a cast of classic villains such as the Mandarin, Whirlwind, and Fin Fang Foom. The emphasis here is on fast-paced action, dispensing with the angst and complicated subplots that were so characteristic of the regular Iron Man series.
