Shadow Play (Whitman)

In trying to regain some of Gold Key’s heyday of the horror comic with such registered titles as Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery, or even The Occult Files of Doctor Spektor, Whitman really dropped the ball on this failed one-shot anthology of tales of the supernatural.

“The Monster Clock” gives us the classic retelling of ungrateful children waiting for daddy’s money but only getting a very special clock instead. We see how much promises mean even after a Norse chieftain’s sister dies of a broken heart in “The Bracelet”. Be careful where you’re hiking or else you may find it’s “Time For Change”. Some titles speak for themselves such as in “My Granddaughter Will Haunt You”. Finally, we see how love can hurt in any time as in the tale of “The Sad Cavalier”.
