Lex Talionis: A Jungle Tale

This fantastic 48-page one-shot from Aneurin Wright and Image Comics gets its title from the Latin phrase which translates as “the law of retaliation.” The story concerns itself with the killing of a safari leader in front of a tour group by a rampaging gorilla. The first half of the book recounts the death of the safari leader from the perspective of his former partner, while the second half recounts the events leading up to murder from the gorilla’s perspective. Why would this noble beast leave the safety of the jungle to kill a man? Find out in this “tale of metaphysical justice” presented in gorgeous earth-tones. Wright’s artwork is simply beautiful, and his writing is compelling and thought-provoking.
