The Mask: Official Movie Adaptation

Stanley Ipkiss was, to put it bluntly, a loser. He was an inoffensive bank teller who was pushed around at work, a washout with women, and a walking target for the abuse of anyone he encountered.

All that changed when he discovered an ancient mask that was floating in the harbor near where his rental car broke down. Once Stanley put on the mask, he was transformed into an over-the-top cartoon character come-to-life, able to use “cartoon physics” to perform any feat you’ve ever seen in an episode of the Road Runner, including pulling objects (primarily guns) out of thin air, bouncing from place to place, and being invulnerable to any sort of damage. Basically, the Mask had brought out Ipkiss’s repressed self, turning this zero into a cartoon hero.

The movie, starring Jim Carrey, was a blockbuster smash in 1994. It is adapted in two issues in this comic book series.
