Beany and Cecil
(Dell, 1962-1963)
™ and © Dell Publishing Co.
Beany and Cecil is fondly remembered as a television animated cartoon series from 1962, but it had its origins over a decade earlier as a live-action puppet show called Time For Beany and voiced and puppeteered by voice over legends Stan Freberg and Daws Butler. Former Looney Tunes director Bob Clampett created these adventures featuring Beany Boy and his sea monster friend, Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent. Joined by Captain Horatio K. Huffenpuff, the trio would set out on adventures on the high seas battling villains such as the appropriately named Dishonest John.
