Aliens: Kidnapped
(Dark Horse, 1997-1999)
™ and ©1986, 1997 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Apparently the risk of becoming an Aliens incubator, complete with the hatchling bursting forth from one’s chest, is not sufficiently gruesome to inhibit smugglers from transporting Alien eggs as though they were just another illegal commodity.
This three–issue mini–series finds a salvage crew recovering the deadly embryos from a crash site for resale on the black market. After an initial confrontation with the Alien queen, which reduces the smugglers’ ranks by a third, the remaining traffickers escape with thirteen flash-frozen eggs for their trouble. Their buyer is suspicious of one, which seems a bit discolored, and refuses to take it, so the smugglers decide to sell it to a barkeeper in East Barbazon, a place where the niceties of civilization are only a rumor. Through all of this the reader anticipates the inevitable eruption and the horror that will follow.
— George Haberberger
