Konny and Czu
(Antarctic, 1994-1995)
™ and ©1994 Matt Howart and D.M. Kister
Konny and Czu is a lighthearted satirical book set in outer space about a pair of characters who travel through the cosmos attempting to scam a few “creds” with an assortment of schemes and cons like smuggling aliens, (certainly a relative term is this title), or delivering items of questionable legality.
Czu is a sentient caterpillar but he’s not the unusual one. Konny, short for Konnwalt S, is some sort of modular lifeform whose constituent body parts float independently in his general vicinity. For example, he can send his eyes into places that would normally be out of his line of sight and deliver messages with his mouth by simply levitating it to the recipient.
The stark black and white artwork of Matt Howarth is notable for his extensive use of cross-hatching and stippling.
